Show your Support for Stafford Hope

stafford stop.pngDuring his 21 years as crossing guard at Runnymede PS, Stafford Hope touched the lives of thousands in our school community.  He was a beacon of safety and familiarity, and guarded our children day after day as they crossed to school at Runnymede & Colbeck.

Stafford knew the kids by name.  He worked in the worst of weather to make sure our children arrived to school safely, and he always greeted us with a smile and – of course – a blessing.  Stafford was our very own Crosswalk Hero, and a ‘Local Legend

Sadly, Stafford’s health is failing, and a group of Runnymede parents is taking up a collection to help his family through this difficult time.  We encourage you to consider donating to this worthy cause.

For more information, please read the e-mail below.

Thank you.

We have some news to share with the Runnymede Community today.

Stafford Hope, our much-loved former crossing guard is in the last days of his battle with cancer.  He retired in 2016 after 21 years of guiding Runnymede students to class safely, but sadly had less than a year of retirement before cancer took hold.

To recognize the important role Stafford played in the lives of a whole generation of Runnymede students we are taking up a special collection for his family; a final gift from a community of people that value the positivity he brought to our school. We welcome all contributions from current or former Runnymede families, and hope that the money raised will help his family afford to honour his final wishes.

We would also love any pictures you might have of Stafford, of your children with Stafford or of just your children that we could combine to put together a Runnymede memory board. The photos would mean so much to him and his family.

Should you choose to donate, there will be a box set up in the school office until next Friday, and it will be outside of the senior gym if you happen to be at the school for concerts this week.

If you are unable to come by the school, but would like to make a contribution of money or photos, please contact Dale Cadeau: ncadeau@bell.net.
