Notice to Families of Children with TDSB Issued Devices:

Families of students enrolled in the Student Device Program from grades 6-12 can now access the GoGuardian Parent App, allowing parents, guardians and caregivers to manage their children’s internet use outside of school hours.

This includes blocking specific websites and restricting internet access completely.

This must be done proactively to enable the protections when devices are used at home or on non-TDSB wifi – this is not automatic.

Here is more information about the app and a support guide made available to families through the December edition of the TDSB Connects communication for families:

The Runnymede HSA’s STEM committee has been instrumental in getting this set up, and we want to make sure as many families as possible are aware, so we can protect as many kids as possible!

Thanks!

UPDATE NOVEMBER 22 – Enrichment news and ordering deadlines!

GREEN COMMITTEE ENRICHMENT NEWS!

On November 18th, over 100 grade six students headed to High Park for a heart-thumping, adventure-packed Green Teacher field trip! After consultation with homeroom teachers and Green Teacher Katie Krelove, the HSA’s Green Committee launched Runnymede’s first-ever game of SURVIVAL: High Park edition.

Using High Park’s gorgeous Black Oak Savannah as a backdrop, the kids brought to life their in-class lessons about the interdependent relationships between carnivores, omnivores, and herbivores – and what they need to survive, including water, food, and shelter. The kids were assigned roles and were set free in the Savannah to find water, shelter, and chase down their prey. It was a perfect fall day for an outdoor education session!

Did you know Runnymede has its very own Marching Band? 🎺🥁

…and did you know they’ll be performing in not one, but TWO parades this year?

🎄Vaughan Santa Claus Parade
📅 November 30th
⏰ 2:00 PM

🎄Lakeshore Santa Claus Parade
📅 December 6th

⏰ 10:00 AM

Even if your kiddo isn’t in the band, these smaller community parades are a wonderful, accessible way to enjoy the season. Come out, get into the holiday spirit, and cheer on our amazing students!

Everyone is welcome!

RUNNYMEDE’S OUTDOOR CLASSROOM IS NOW IN SESSION!

The HSA / Parent council’s Green Teacher Program takes place in our very own Nature Garden.
The program is paid for by funds donated to the HSA, and it gets kids outside and exploring all that our wonderful hillside garden has to offer!

This is our first time running Green Teacher in the fall for our kindergarten students, and we’re thrilled to invite them into our space to learn about how they can be good stewards of the Nature Garden and all the wonderful changes we as the season shifts to fall. We’ll introduce them to concepts like staying on the pathways to protect our hillside, why littering is so bad for the environment, how to be kind to our plants and trees, and much more.

Grade 2’s will be learning about food, water, air, and shelter in the Garden, and Grade 4’s will learn about producers (plants) and how they harness and store energy from the sun. Both programs will incorporate the concept of stewardship and taking care of the garden.

Finally, the grade 6’s are heading to High Park for a heart-thumping, adventure-packed game of survival. Winner takes all in this live-action game where wily predators face off against stealthy herbivores and resources are scarce…who will come back alive and make it through to the winter season?!?

Big thanks to our volunteer HSA GREEN COMMITTEE for working with teachers, staff and Admin to make these wonderful experiences happen for our kids at Runnymede!
