The HSA / Parent council’s Green Teacher Program takes place in our very own Nature Garden. The program is paid for by funds donated to the HSA, and it gets kids outside and exploring all that our wonderful hillside garden has to offer!
This is our first time running Green Teacher in the fall for our kindergarten students, and we’re thrilled to invite them into our space to learn about how they can be good stewards of the Nature Garden and all the wonderful changes we as the season shifts to fall. We’ll introduce them to concepts like staying on the pathways to protect our hillside, why littering is so bad for the environment, how to be kind to our plants and trees, and much more.
Grade 2’s will be learning about food, water, air, and shelter in the Garden, and Grade 4’s will learn about producers (plants) and how they harness and store energy from the sun. Both programs will incorporate the concept of stewardship and taking care of the garden.
Finally, the grade 6’s are heading to High Park for a heart-thumping, adventure-packed game of survival. Winner takes all in this live-action game where wily predators face off against stealthy herbivores and resources are scarce…who will come back alive and make it through to the winter season?!?
Big thanks to our volunteer HSA GREEN COMMITTEE for working with teachers, staff and Admin to make these wonderful experiences happen for our kids at Runnymede!

Tomorrow is the final day of our Annual Direct Donation Campaign — and we’ve reached 63% of our $50,000 goal. Thank you to everyone who has already contributed!
If your family hasn’t had a chance to donate yet, now is the time. Over the next couple of weeks, our Home & School Association committees will be finalizing budgets for this year’s programs and initiatives. The funds we raise this week will determine what we are able to plan, and when we can get started!
Every dollar helps bring enrichment programs like science workshops, art performances, and field trips to life for all Runnymede students. We are hoping for 100% participation from all Runnymede families, in any amount that you feel comfortable with. Together we can make a difference in our children’s education and enrichment!
What is the Runnymede Home & School Association (HSA) ? The HSA (a.k.a. Parent Council) is in charge of FUN, FUNDRAISING & ENRICHMENT at Runnymede! We organize and provide volunteer support for positive educational experiences.

THE DIRECT DONATION CAMPAIGN IS ON! PLEASE SUPPORT ENRICHMENT AT RUNNYMEDE
We’re excited to launch ourannual Direct Donation Campaign! 🎉
This fundraising effort, led by Runnymede’s parent-run Home & School Association (HSA), directly supports the special activities and enrichment programming that make the Runnymede school experience unforgettable — from art and science workshops, to outdoor athletic activities.
The Direct Donation Campaign gives families the option to donate one time, rather than participating in multiple smaller fundraisers. Similar to a Student Activity Fee at some schools, Runnymede families are invited to make a tax-deductible donation each Fall to support of our children’s education and enrichment.
Thanks to your donations and involvement last school year, we were able to provide teachers with additional resources, fund classroom activities and offer a wide range of enrichment opportunities!
All Runnymede families are welcome to come out and join in this great RPS tradition!
Fall Yard is a fun, school-based “community clean-up” morning where the whole family can weed and tidy the nature garden and outdoor classrooms at the school. We’ll collect litter, trim invasive plants and weeds, sweep and tidy.
Apple peeling, and a nature craft will be set up in the Adventure Yard (rear of school). Please bring some nut-free baking snacks to share if you can, and we’ll have coffee for the grown ups! Stop by for an hour to help out, or come for the whole morning!
THE GREAT GEAR SWAP is also a new tradition at yard day, to help reuse grown-out-of sports equipment in our community. Drop off any items you want to donate (outside the main office or bring it day-of) and pick up something new for your little one! Think skates, baseball gloves, soccer cleats – no bikes!)
There are some tasks that need to be done in the week leading up to Yard Day, as well as on Yard Day itself. We would love your help! Fall Yard Day Volunteer Sign-up Thank you in advance for helping run this important community event!
