Lice Screening K – 6 on Tuesday September 15

Did you know that September is the most common month for head lice infections?  As the school year gets underway, we would like to try to minimize the potential for any cases of lice to spread at Runnymede.

A lice check will be conducted for all Kindergarten to Grade Six students on Tuesday September 15, 2015.

For this initial check we are partnering with Nitworks to screen the students. Administration and a group of parent volunteers will be assisting in this initiative.  We plan on mobilizing a parent volunteer team to conduct future screenings in January and March.

To cover the cost of this initiative we are asking parents to please send a toonie in an envelope or taped to a piece of paper marked ‘lice check’ and your child’s name & classroom.  This is not a fundraiser, the $2 is to cover the cost of the lice check only.  Students can bring their money in Monday or Tuesday this week.

Thank you for your co-operation.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Dale Cadeau, Parent Council Co-chair at ncadeau@bell.net or 416.453.2680

Welcome (back) to Runnymede 2015-16

On behalf of Runnymede Parent Council, we would like to extend our warmest welcome to all new families, and to those of you returning to Runnymede. Week One of school will be busy and hectic as our children settle into new classrooms with their new teachers, and we are here to help now and throughout the school year.

2015-2016 will be our biggest year yet, with the celebration of our Centennial in 2016! This school year will be filled with many opportunities to get involved with our Centennial celebration. As well, our Centennial Playground Project fundraising campaign will continue this year. Our campaign goal is $225,000 and we have already raised $175,000!! We will build on this amazing success with a Fall direct donation campaign for new Runnymede families, and some fun events throughout the year to celebrate the Centennial and contribute to our fundraising goal. The Centennial Playground Project fundraising replaces our annual per-child direct donation campaign for this year only.

New this year, there will be reps from every class on Council to help keep parents and Council well-connected. We are always looking for new parents to join Council and get involved! Our website www.runnymedecouncil.org is a great place to look for up-to-date information, so bookmark this site and visit it regularly. Our first Council meeting will take place Tuesday, September 22 at 7:00 p.m. in the School Library – we hope to see you there.
