Ward 7 Update: Our Children Deserve Better

Runnymede P.S. is in desperate need of capital renewal and our school is not alone in the TDSB:

  • 202 of the TDSB’s 588 schools are in critical condition, according to building industry standards
  • The TDSB has documented $3.2 Billion in capital renewal needs, which translates into leaky roofs, erratic heating systems, decrepit washrooms, draft windows…and the list goes on…

If you are frustrated by the condition of your child’s school, please read more about the TDSB Capital Budget Crisis  and join your Ward 7 Reps to brainstorm ideas for action on Monday, April 7th, 7:30-9:00 pm  in the Runnymede P.S. Library.  Please RSVP to Krista Wylie so that we can send you an agenda.

Our children deserve a clean, safe, healthy, comfortable environment that is conducive to learning.  Change is needed to ensure this happens.

Get Inspired This Spring with QSP Magazines

This winter has been long but we all know that spring IS around the corner. In preparation for spring, the Spirit Committee would like to suggest some great magazines to give your garden a fresh start and ensure that it is beautiful all summer long.

Canadian Gardening and Ontario Home & Gardener Living are just two of the many options offered through QSP. If you are interested in making a purchase, use code 9213 at the QSP link here, or through our school web site under ‘Shopping Anyway?’ in Hot Topics.

This will ensure that a percentage of the total purchases will be awarded to Runnymede Public School and Sick Kids’ Hospital and you receive a discount from the news stand price!

Enjoy thinking about spring!

Important Wednesday morning update: School is open

Our school has been experiencing issues with our boilers. One boiler has been inoperable, leaving only one functioning. Fortunately, we had heat yesterday and continue to have heat this morning.

All classrooms have been checked and school is open and operating as usual today, January 22.

Staff are working to resolve the issues. Should our operating boiler also go down, and the interior temperature becomes an issue, our plan would be to have staff and students relocate to an alternate site, Western Technical Commercial School.

Please visit TDSB website or check back here, or call the school at 416-393-9055 for updates.
