Two Nights Only: Seussical the Musical

Seussical the Musical will be held on Wednesday, May 7 and Thursday, May 8 at 7pm in the Senior Gym of Runnymede P.S.

Entry will be through Door 6, starting from 5:30 pm.

There are still some tickets left! We will be selling remaining tickets at the door for $10/ticket.

If you ordered your tickets by Friday May 2, you should have received hard copy tickets home with your child. Please bring your tickets with you to the show. If you have any questions, email Audrey at audreyrobinson@net.com

We ask that you be mindful of other audience members and remain in your seat while videotaping any part of the performance. Please, no flash photography will be permitted, since this is distracting to performers.

Baby strollers will need to be left outside under the sheltered area by Door 6.

The show will be 85 minutes long with a 10 minute intermission.

Runnymede Robotics gets children excited about science and technology

Runnymede’s Robotics league is part of the world-wide robotics program partnered with FLL.

Each year our team is presented with a Challenge that takes many skills to complete.

• The Robot itself requires kids who are good at mechanical building.

• The Programming of the robot needs kids proficient with computer programming, logic and problem-solving.

• The Project needs kids who can research, scrapbook and do oral presentations.

• All participants must show the FLL Core Values (gracious professionalism, the importance of discovery over winning, and cooperation) at all times.

We will be forming teams in September to get ready for the new Challenge release date. The kids meet often to prepare for the official FLL tournament hosted by the TDSB in early December.

This spring/summer you could have fun and get ready for September. Here are some ideas:

PROGRAMMING:

Make your own story, game, or animation. Scratch is a site with free online programming similar to the one we use. There are tips, tutorials, and a “try it out” section with a step-by-step intro that is easy to follow. Design your own program and post it!

ENGINEERING:

Pull out those Lego Technic pieces from the basement and have fun building simple machines using gears, wheels, pulleys, beams, axles. For inspiration, see: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UEk5v0jNp_4

JOURNALING:

Start a summer journal. Make a journal out of cardboard or scrap paper. You could photograph your hobbies, sketch, draw comics, glue in movie stubs, score sheets.

Ward 7 Update: Our Children Deserve Better

Runnymede P.S. is in desperate need of capital renewal and our school is not alone in the TDSB:

202 of the TDSB’s 588 schools are in critical condition, according to building industry standards
The TDSB has documented $3.2 Billion in capital renewal needs, which translates into leaky roofs, erratic heating systems, decrepit washrooms, draft windows…and the list goes on…

If you are frustrated by the condition of your child’s school, please read more about the TDSB Capital Budget Crisis and join your Ward 7 Reps to brainstorm ideas for action on Monday, April 7^th, 7:30-9:00 pm in the Runnymede P.S. Our children deserve a clean, safe, healthy, comfortable environment that is conducive to learning. Change is needed to ensure this happens.
